Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu and Oscar-winning director SS Rajamouli have started shooting for their next film titled SSMB29. This film is going to be a new chapter in the history of Indian cinema. According to media reports, it will be a jungle adventure film, which will take place in two different periods.

Rajamouli is preparing to show ancient Kashi in this film. The film will show the deep connection of history and mythology of Kashi. The episodes of the history of Kashi will be related to the events happening in the present. Kashi will emerge as a character in the film’s narrative.
It is difficult to shoot the film entirely in real locations, so the makers are erecting a huge set of ancient Kashi in Hyderabad. Some parts of the film will be shot in real locations. Rajamouli is looking for places in India and Africa for forest, river, and cave shots, where no film has been shot so far.
Apart from Mahesh Babu, the film also stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran in pivotal roles. Priyanka Chopra is making a comeback in Bollywood after years, and her presence is expected to benefit the film’s international audience as well. According to reports, the film will also have a deep connection with the Ramayana. Mahesh Babu’s character will be inspired by Hanuman. Rajamouli wants to present the conflict of hero and villain in a different way, which will be a departure from the traditional formula.
The shooting of the film has already begun in Orissa, and recently leaked pictures from the sets featured Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran. However, the pictures were later removed from the internet.
Rajamouli’s previous films’ Baahubali ‘and’ RRR ‘made waves globally. With ‘SSMB29’ too, he aims to create something that will become a talking point outside India. He has contacted national and international studios for the post-production of the film.
At the moment, the film has not been named, but it is planned to be released in the summer of 2027.
