In 1770, there was a terrible famine in Bengal, which made the situation even more horrific.

Our sanyasi saints stood up against this injustice and launched an armed rebellion against the British!

Organized opposition to Sanyasi began between 1760 and 1770.

Saithents of the Dashnami sect took up arms against the British.
Shri Bhavani Charan Pathak sacrificed his life in the battle of Govindganj in 1791.
After him, the rebellion continued for 11 more years under the leadership of Devi Chaudharani ji.
