Sikandar Movie Review:

Introduction

As the credits of the film open, Rashmika Mandanna’s voiceover is heard saying, “Sikandar is not the one who rules a big empire but Sikandar is the one who rules hearts. “However, the film fails to rule hearts at any level. The film attacks the ability to hear, see, and understand for two and a half hours.

Script and plot

Sanjay (Salman Khan) is the king of Rajkot. People call him both Sikandar and Sanjay Sahab. Sanjay loves his wife Sayashree very much, but his life changes after an attack. He then embarks on a mission to help people and takes on his enemies.

But it wasn’t as exciting as it should have been.

  • The main villain of the film is a minister (Sathyaraj) named Pradhan, but the real problem is the weak script of the film.
  • Many scenes are simply juxtaposed back and forth, making the story seem scattered.
  • The film repeatedly talks about different issues – corruption, pollution, commentary on Alpha Man – but none of it seems effective.

Direction and Editing

Director Murugadoss tried many different elements in the film, but his combination was very weak.

  • The cinematic flow is missing.
  • There is no seamless transition – as soon as a scene ends, suddenly a song or a new location comes, due to which the tone of the film keeps changing.
  • The emotional side of Sikander does not touch the audience from anywhere. Despite the death of a close person, no emotion wakes up.

Dialogues and acting

  • Salman Khan tried to play his character in a serious and heavy voice, but this experiment does not benefit the film.
  • Sathyaraj’s (Villain) performance is full of cliches and overacting.
  • Most of the dialogues in the film are flat and bland.

Music and action

  • The action sequences have an impact in some places, but in most places, it’s just over the top.
  • The theme music of the film is catchy, but it is not used properly, due to which it fails to give height to the scenes.

Conclusion

Sikandar is one of those films that leaves no one behind in trying to offer something for everyone. The poor writing and editing of the film make it weak. Except for the action and Salman’s entry scene, there is nothing to remember in the film.

Rating: Rated (2/5)

If you are a big fan of Salman Khan, then you can watch it once. Otherwise, this film will not give you much.
